QUESTIONS

What is Scalp Micropigmentation?

Scalp Micropigmentation is an incredible treatment where natural pigments are applied at the epidermal level of the scalp to replicate the natural appearance of real hair follicles or strands. The procedure is often used to darken the contrast between your light
scalp color and your hair color, giving the illusion of a fuller thicker head of hair. It will not grow out, as it is like a medical hairline tattoo. It is a great alternative to invasive and costly surgeries.

Who would benefit from Scalp Micropigmentation? How do I know it’s right for me?

Anyone who is self conscious of their balding, scarring, birth marks or thinning hair can benefit from Scalp Micropigmentation. It can also effectively help camouflage injuries, burns and birthmarks.

If you are unsure of where to turn, come in for a free consultation and we can discuss different options for you. We can also do a small trial area so that you get a feel of how it will feel and look. If you are not a good candidate or if you simply realize it’s not for you, no hard feelings. We appreciate meeting you and learn from every client.

Do I need to be completely bald to use this technique?

No, you do not need to be bald to enjoy the benefits of the Scalp Micropigmentation technique. The process realistically simulates the look of a closely shaved head of hair, so keep that in mind when making your decision. But Scalp Micropigmentation is a great solution for anyone who is self-conscious about how their hair/head looks.

Can women also have Scalp Micropigmentation?

Yes, we have many very happy women clients. Women who use topical concealers for thinning hair usually love our permanent makeup approach to their scalp. A private consultation with a female consultant technician who will present and explore your options ensures that you will receive the very best care, Men and women have different balding patterns and we understand the physical and psychological intricacies of both.

How does Semper Hair’s Scalp Micropigmentation procedure work?

We work with every client individually, as no two procedures are the same. We know everyone has a different idea of what will look best and we work with you to make your vision a reality.

At your initial consultation we will review the look you are wanting and discuss the best plan of action. We will determine your pigment base color depending on your hair and skin tone.

At your initial appointment we will carefully draw out the hairline to make sure that you are completely comfortable it. Only then will we commence the first Scalp Micropigmentation treatment. This can take anywhere from 1-4 hours depending on the case.

Our Scalp Micropigmentation procedure often requires 2-3 initial treatments to be performed to see the best results. The time between varies and is determined by your technician. We take our time and find that patience is the key to success.

How long do the results last? Will the color fade?

This is a permanent solution, with pigments that will need re-touching from time to time. We recommend that clients come in every 5- 10 years for a color maintenance.

Unlike scalp ink tattoos, the results will last and your color will not fade or turn green. The pigments are structured differently and are similar to permanent make up, therefore you do not have to worry about common tattoo problems.

Is Scalp Micropigmentation a tattoo?

Not in the classic sense, but we are often referred to as "Medical Hairline Tattoos". Scalp Micropigmentation creates the illusion of a closely shaved head of hair using a very fine needle and a special organic pigment. It has more in common with permanent makeup. And because the “microdots” are so small, it is virtually impossible for the naked eye to see the difference between the real hair follicles and our implanted pigment. Our needles are among the finest in the medical
/cosmetic industry and they are sterilized disposables for one time use.

Is Semper Hair LLC a tattoo parlor, a medical clinic or a spa?

Semper Hair LLC is none of the above. Our team of Licensed and Certified Scalp Micropigmentation Technicians have created our own space, one where artistry meets science. Our Scalp Micropigmentation Clinic's are upscale, comfortable and relaxing.

Are there any risks?

The number one question we get asked in terms of risk is, “What is the risk of infection?”. The risk of infection is optimally minimal. We use only disposable medical grade needles and pigment reservoirs. The clinic is always sanitized to the standards of a hospital operating room. Like any other procedure, please consult with your physician to see if you are healthy enough to proceed.

Will the procedure hurt?

Everyone’s pain tolerance is a little different; so there is no exact number. The average response is a 3-4 (on a 10 point scale, with ten being the most painful). There are also those clients who say the procedure feels like someone is tickling their head. If you have any heightened sensitivity to the procedure, we have topical anesthetic cream on hand for your comfort.

Your health and safety are our number one priority; so our technicians constantly check on you throughout the procedure to make sure you are remaining comfortable.

If I have some hair, will it grow out after the procedure?

Scalp Micropigmentation does not affect the growth or color of existing hair. At your initial consultation we will review how Scalp Micropigmentation will affect your head. New research is suggesting that the stimulation to the scalp from the procedure may actually help grow fine hairs, but we while optimistic, we are not ready to stand totally behind that without more science.

Is Scalp Micropigmentation an alternative to topical Keratin Concealer Powder?

Yes, it can be. At Semper Hair we have a brand of topical keratin fill in powder, which we offer to people if Scalp Micropigmentation is not right for them. But while Scalp Micropigmentation can be considered an alternative for hair restoration, it is a permanent solution. Once your Scalp Micropigmentation procedure is complete, you will not have to worry about powders again.

What if my natural stubble is light or graying?

Many factors affect the color of your stubble; so we make sure that our pigment accurately reflects your look. We match the pigment based on your skin tone and hair color each time you come in for a procedure. So when you come in for a touch up ten years later, we will reevaluate your pigment and match it. This is the most trouble-free permanent solution to your hair loss problem.
